New Release! Shelter by Rhyll Biest

Happy new book release to author Rhyll Biest! Shelter is available now!

Shelter by author Rhyll Biest had many memorable moments. The characters written in the story were stand outs. Kat’s introduction and first interactions with the townsfolk of Walgarra were comical and a nice surprise laugh. There were twists in the story and some shock moments that jumped out at this reader. I liked Kat and Luka’s characters – each of their respective character layers revealing themselves throughout the read that had the puzzle pieces falling into place well. Their ideas or agendas, while not always obvious, show themselves through the happenings within the story, having some surprise elements. Their interactions and dialogue were entertaining from one chapter to the next. Kat’s inner dialogue and obvious attraction to Luka (and likewise Luka’s attraction to Kat) had many amusing elements that bring the chuckles. The story was a stand out from its vivid descriptions, to the likeable characters that all combined in what was a great series starter from author Rhyll Biest.

About Shelter by Rhyll Biest

Raw and risky, a new rural romance that explores the dark side of small towns, and the people who put everything on the line to protect them…

shelter_rhyllbiest_escapepublishingKat Daily is excited to trade her Sydney airport quarantine uniform for an RSPCA inspector’s uniform and a job in the rural town of Walgarra. A fresh start in a new place, where she can make a real difference in the lives of the animals that she loves.

But Walgarra doesn’t offer a peaceful, bucolic existence. Like many small towns, the distance from urban settings — and urban law enforcement — has allowed a criminal element to set in. Kat may only be looking after animals, but that doesn’t mean she will be immune to people with sinister agendas.

The previous RSCPCA inspector was murdered, and Officer Luka Belovuk is determined to keep the new inspector from the same fate. He may have very broad shoulders, but carrying the safety of the law-abiding community just trying to live their lives has weighed him down, and one more death might be more than he can take.

Not all small towns are quaint and quiet, but they all have one thing in common: a community of people willing to protect their population with everything they have.

New Release! The Beast Of Aros Castle by Heather McCollum

Happy new book release to author Heather McCollum!

I heart author Heather McCollum’s books. 😀 The characters she brings to the pages whether they are dastardly, comical, charming or downright sizzling – they never cease to entertain from one page to the next. In Ms McCollum’s latest novel, The Beast Of Aros Castle, Ava and Grace’s crusade held all sorts of challenges and obstacles, not the least of which their subterfuge/deception. Tor from the start added a few beats to this readers heart 😉 Even the secondary characters in the story were stand outs in what was a stellar start to the Highland Isles series.

New Release! Silver Edge by Ciara Knight

SilverEdge_CiaraKnight_EntangledPub

Excerpt

My fingers settled on the piano keys, my hands arched, and my brain shifted to the slow, sensual sound of Drake’s song.
My eyelids closed, sealing the surrounding room from my consciousness. That inexplicable yearning inside me conjoined with the melody. I surrendered to the sensual soiree, the higher notes promenading with the grace of a champion ballroom dancer. My shoulders rose and fell with the tete-a-tete.
I played as if the piano breathed for me, thought for me, lived for me. Note after note, I felt love, loss, longing. Tears trickled over my cheeks and into my mouth. I tasted the sadness of Drake’s song, the same sadness I had lived.
I slid my hands to the bass keys and pounded the approach of danger. Deep, hollow, broken. I found where Drake had faltered in the song. My breath was shallow, but I played on. The melody crescendoed to a battle cadence.
Da-drum. Da-drum. Da-drum.
Faster, faster, faster.
The song peaked, a high, mountainous peak. Energy faded, and the beats trailed into a sweeping calm. My fingers fell from the keys. I slumped, exhausted.
The floor creaked and I jolted. Drake dropped his bag, a flash of intense emotion. I flinched, waiting for the anger I knew was coming to rule his fists.

About Silver Edge by Ciara Knight

SilverEdge_CiaraKnight_entangledpub_bookcoverAll I’ve ever wanted is to fit in.

But no one can ever see past how weird I am. Bright lights? Can’t stand them. Loud noises? Definitely sends me over the edge. And touching? Forget about it.

At least, until I met Drake.

From the moment I walked into that nightclub, I finally felt like I belonged somewhere. And when Drake touched me, it didn’t send me into a tailspin of sensations that I couldn’t stand. It actually felt…nice. Like something I could get used to. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s probably the hottest guy I’ve ever seen.

But now someone wants to close the club down. And since I promised Drake that I’d help him keep it open, I’m going to have to find a way to tap into whatever that inner strength thing is that everyone always talks about. And fast. But what happens if I can’t?

New Release! Daughter Of Mine by Fiona Lowe

Happy new book release to author Fiona Lowe!

Daughter Of Mine by Fiona Lowe was a tumultuous, 360 degree story, filled with so many obstacles and heartache and twists for the portrayed characters. Energetic, opinionated personas that were prickly at first, but nevertheless, they grew on you. Characters that had this readers opinions turning. Events and circumstances, secrets and lies. An exceptionally magnificent read. From the start I was gripped by the happenings within the events of the small town setting and the vivacious starring characters portrayed. The obstacles and contentious issues were believably written and had me completely outraged on behalf of each of the characters. Loved this story and was so pleased with the finale and would not have complained if the story kept going 🙂 A book that will be in my fave reads that I could go back to again.

About Daughter Of Mine by Fiona Lowe

When your world falls apart the only person you can depend on is your sister.

daughterofmine_fionalowe_harlequinausThe three Chirnwell sisters are descended from the privileged squattocracy in Victoria’s Western District — but could a long-held secret threaten their family?

Harriett Chirnwell has a perfect life — a husband who loves her, a successful career and a daughter who is destined to become a doctor just like her.

Xara has always lived in Harriet’s shadow; her chaotic life with her family on their sheep farm falls far short of her older sister’s standards of perfection and prestige.

Georgie, the youngest sister and a passionate teacher, is the only one of the three to have left Billawarre. But is her life in Melbourne happy?

Despite all three sisters having a different and sometimes strained bond with their mother, Edwina, they come together to organise a party for her milestone birthday — the first since their father’s death. But when Edwina arrives at her party on the arm of another man, the tumult is like a dam finally breaking. Suddenly the lives of the Chirnwell sisters are flooded by scandal. Criminal accusations, a daughter in crisis, and a secret over fifty years in the making start to crack the perfect façade of the prominent pastoral family.

A thought provoking novel about family expectations, secrets and lies.

Short Excerpt

Amusement danced in the stranger’s eyes, and the smile that had threatened claimed a set of kissable lips she had the sudden urge to taste. Her heart rolled in her chest. Dammit. He needed to stop doing that or she was never going to catch her breath. An instant later, his gaze dropped to her mouth, and what little air was left in Jovy’s lungs took a hike, leaving her with a racing pulse and fluttering stomach.
