New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins welcomes you home in a funny, emotionally charged must-read novel about the complications of life, love and family

One step forward. Two steps back. The Tufts scholarship that put Nora Stuart on the path to becoming a Boston medical specialist was a step forward. Being hit by a car and then overhearing her boyfriend hit on another doctor when she thought she was dying? Two major steps back.

Injured in more ways than one, Nora feels her carefully built life cracking at the edges. There's only one place to land: home. But the tiny Maine community she left fifteen years ago doesn't necessarily want her. At every turn, someone holds the prodigal daughter of Scupper Island responsible for small-town drama and big-time disappointments.

With a tough islander mother who's always been distant and a wild-child sister in jail, unable to raise her daughter—a withdrawn teen as eager to ditch the island as Nora once was—Nora has her work cut out for her if she's going to take what might be her last chance to mend the family.

But as some relationships crumble around her, others unexpectedly strengthen. Balancing loss and opportunity, a dark event from her past with hope for the future, Nora will discover that tackling old pain makes room for promise…and the chance to begin again.

My Thoughts On The Book

Oh my gosh, I loved reading Kristan Higgins’ newest novel, Now That You Mention It! It was a story that depicted so many dramatic, heartfelt moments that combined for an unmissable read. The friendships and strength of the female protagonists stood out in the story. Nora’s character pulled at the heartstrings from the get-go. How many bad scenarios can one character be put through, one asks. 🙁 My heart bled for her character and all she endured. But the happier moments were blissful in a non-stop dramatic read. Now That You Mention It by author Kristan Higgins was outstanding reading from start to finish! 😀

If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins – Book Review!

ifyouonlyknewThe drama, hilarity and tears of sisterhood are at the heart of the thoroughly captivating new novel by New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins — a funny, frank and bittersweet look at marriage, forgiveness and moving on.

Letting go of her ex-husband is harder than wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate expected…especially since his new wife wants to be Jenny’s new best friend. Sensing this isn’t exactly helping her achieve closure, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she’ll start her own business and bask in her sister Rachel’s picture-perfect family life…and maybe even find a little romance of her own with Leo, her downstairs neighbour, a guy who’s utterly irresistible and annoyingly distant at the same time.

Rachel’s idyllic marriage, however, is imploding after she discovers her husband sexting with a colleague. She always thought she’d walk away in this situation, but her triplet daughters have her reconsidering her stance on adultery, much to Jenny’s surprise. Rachel points to their parents’ perfect marriage as a shining example of patience and forgiveness; but to protect her sister, Jenny may have to tarnish that memory — and their relationship — and reveal a family secret she’s been keeping since childhood.
Both Rachel and Jenny will have to come to terms with the past and the present, and find a way to get what they want most of all.

Book Review

Reading If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins sucker punches you right in the solar plexus. It highlighted a myriad of emotions and events filled with characters that elated, shocked and also exasperated this reader. Characters that completely weaved their way into your heart, having this reader getting caught up in the emotional story. Emotions flowing from the pages ranged from deliriously happy to hilariously funny as well as dramatically heartbreaking.
The book touches on many serious events/scenarios, but the back dialogue from the characters at numerous moments have you laughing out loud and even cheering for some of the characters 😀
This book left me talking about the characters and their journey throughout the story long after finishing the book. It’s a story that can be read again and again and if the story kept going, would still be as entertaining 😀
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
